Well I really don't care for it.

It doesn't seem like much of an earner.

It is at higher stakes but then if you take money out to flaunt you're gonna have to play lower stakes again. At micro/low stakes you definitely won't become a millionaire anytime this century.

Poker's better than anything else at a casino. Anything you're playing against a house dealer at least.
As of 2010, his total live tournament winnings exceed $13,400,000. (Phil Ivey)

Ivey is a regular participant in the $4,000-$8,000 mixed cash game at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas (often referred to as the Big Game). In February 2006, he played heads-up Limit Texas Hold'em versus Texas billionaire Andy Beal. With stakes at $25,000/$50,000, Ivey won over $16,000,000 over the course of three days. Ivey was playing for "The Corporation", a group of poker professionals who pooled their money and took turns playing against Beal. Earlier in the month, Beal had beaten the Corporation out of $10,000,000. After losing to Ivey, Beal claimed (not for the first time) that he was giving up poker.

(Beal is also a billionaire/ hobbyist mathematician just fyi)

When you get here one of our lecturers (Samir Siksek) has some harsh words about Beal.

Mainly that he's a billionaire and that a $100 000 prize for proving his conjecture is pittance.

soulmate!

hehe :teehee:

But I'm looking forward to this pen discussion. This is the best thread EVER. Gotta love the maths guys.

Note I'm second year living in Earlsdon.

I'll order it next week if there is enough interest (there probably is enough now) and it will be delivered to the house. Of course the price of the thing needs to stay at 92p for it to go ahead. Tom/Kath could probably sign for it :yy:

Saw the exact same pads in town today. The paper quality is no Pukka or Oxford but it's ok and for the price you can't complain. Was gonna get some but they were quite thick and I thought i'm not lugging those bad boys on the bus. I'm in, I may as well save a few pennies.
Btw, the pen discussion was nowhere near as epic as the paper one. fail.

Ah, but that is only because paper is one of the most important, and most interesting topics there is :P

How many pads are you looking for (160sheets/320pages at 92p each)?

around $15 over a considerable sample e.g about 100k hands.

This is my point. I mean that's a decent wage for poker (lots of players won't be earning that much over such a large sample of hands) but it's still not brilliant. Getting an average job would earn you the same amount of money.

I'm also betting that you don't play one table at a time with online poker, you probably have 9 or so different tables open at once.
