Does anyone have any good resources/ notes for Higher Psychology or any older past papers than the ones already on the SQA website? How is everyone finding the course?

Thought I'd just say 'Hi' and come join you since I'm also sitting Psychology
Hey
I'm sitting Psychology too  So far it's going well  How are you finding it?
As for resources, I just use google to find what I need  It usually brings something up.

Hi!
I am finding the course really interesting so far and I am enjoying it. It's just that I feel a bit worried because for all our other subjects we have so much time at school compared to Psychology and we are a third of the way through the course already. Whereas in Psychology, we have only had a few evenings of it and only done one or two topics! Are both of you doing it at college? How often are you doing it? I am just doing it one evening for two and a half hours a week. I feel like I am abandoning it a bit but need to start doing a lot more work outside school soon!

We have a college lecturer come to the school  and it's the woman who wrote the textbook for the course so it's pretty good I guess:smile:
We get 2 lessons of 100 minutes a week (Tuesday and Thursday afternoons), and 2 free periods (50 minutes each) a week to do a task or two in from the teacher.
Only problem is that we haven't got enough textbooks to go round the class, so I'm sharing with someone, and the teacher wonders why our homework is nearly identical :eek3:... but there is no way for both of us to do it in the time we're given.
Which topics are you doing?

I'm doing it at College and I get it twice a week and get class is 3 hours long with a 15-20 minutes break in the middle.

We've finished Unit 2 and we're doing our NAB on Monday - I think. Then after the October break we'll being our Research Investigation

I can't remember the topics, I'll look them up! What topics are you doing? I don't think we're doing our investigation until after Christmas.

Oh dear :frown: Well, I guess an investigation may be easier than an exam, unless it's all done in 1 lesson under exam conditions... =/

I have added some resources I thought might be useful. Any others to add?

I have been making notes today and I was so confused about the course structure, because it our teacher is doing Unit 3 then Unit 2 then Unit 1 and she isn't even doing the topics within each Unit in order so I am a bit confused because I like to be organised and everything is all out of place!

I typed up this thing so it makes more sense to me, if anyone else wants it I have also added it to the opening post. The topics I am studying are Memory, Stress, Research Methods, Conformity and Obedience, Atypical Behaviour.

What book(s) have you been using? I have been using both of the ones I have added to the opening post. We only use the first one in class but it is out of date and the second one is designed for the new course.

Is it for Unit 1? We are doing Unit 3 first.

I wanted to do stress rather than memory... It's so much easier to relate to =/ Memory is just annoying me now :eek3: Atypical behaviour sounds the most interesting to me  I'm glad I'm doing it too :p:

I wanted to do intelligence. :p: I think it would be interesting!

I think that would frustrate me.

But not as much as the school textbook situation is frustrating me.. We have 1 textbook between 2. And homework twice a week. I can't do it, since I have no textbook. And I've been doing the homework for the girl I share with for a month now because of it.

Signed up minutes ago, seemed a good forum. I'm doing Psychology Higher for 2011 too  Studying at college, we get two 2 hour lectures each week and I find it very interesting but hard to get a grip on, e.g. Names of researchers, terminology and what each approach is. No idea when we will be doing the first NAB though. I hope we can all co-operate and succeed together!
