Signed up minutes ago, seemed a good forum. I'm doing Psychology Higher for 2011 too  Studying at college, we get two 2 hour lectures each week and I find it very interesting but hard to get a grip on, e.g. Names of researchers, terminology and what each approach is. No idea when we will be doing the first NAB though. I hope we can all co-operate and succeed together!

Welcome to :tsr: !!!

Yeah, I find it difficult to remember all of the terminology. Especially all the years that the studies took place. Sometimes it feels like learning an encyclopedia! What topics are you studying?

Thanks!

Just now, we are doing early socialisation and the whole deprivation, seperation, enrichment stuff. I'm sure we're doing memory next. Buy yes, it is very hard to keep on top of, so many names!

Are you studying it at college? I just study it one evening a week at college and it's so annoying because I have to get the bus.

Yeah at college. We get 4 hours a week of it, it's not bad but requires a lot of studying (which I seem to do randomly these days), I need to get a proper routine going :/

4 hours! What results did you get this year?

My bus is 40 minutes, now that's not so bad on the way there if I'm able to catch the 8:25am one. But if I'm not then it's crammed full of people.

Then going home is a nightmare, people from Glasgow are on the bus first and then about 50 or so students cram on the bus. So annoying :yep:

But anyway, I'll either have my nab tomorrow or sometime after the October Break, I'm hoping it's tomorrow as I'll forget everything by them.

The one thing that's been bothering me though, is I don't actually know how to study and it's pissing me off.
Ah! First NAB on Tuesday... I think :eek3: She said practice NAB one time, and proper NAB another.

Has anyone else started the Memory topic yet? Baddeley seems to have done a million studies. It's impossible to remember the years :L

Well, I did 5th year in '09 and got 2 B Highers, and 3 B Int 2s, then pretty much took a year out (which I regret but have gotten over now), then realised uni is where I want to go so this year I'm going full-on with it. I quickly came to the conclusion that schoolkids doing Highers have it so, so, so much easier.

Hi I thought I would introduce myself, I am a recent Psychology graduate (2:1 Bsc with Honours). I currently do psychology tutoring as a hobby. So if you have any questions about the higher etc I can help as I have been there done that and got the t-shirt! I can also give you lots of info and example studies and how to write them up etc.

The great thing about Psychology even at higher is that you have alot of flexibilty when answering questions - you can use any study to make your point. Plus i love the subject

If you want to find recent psychology info or studies afew sites are handy:

http://scholar.google.co.uk/
This gives you a list of some free published papers and material, which you can reference in your essays etc. Plus you know that it is true, decent info - beware don't just take stuff from a random webpage! Plus its fun to just search random topics you might be interested in like animal behaviour.

http://www.bps.org.uk/
Provides an interesting insight into Psychology, the national governing body website. You can find the latest published findings here - worth a read.

Good news is Higher psychology is alot better than when I did it in 2005! But I had a go at one of the past papers for 2009 and it was a much fairer and interesting set of questions.

I'm doing the same thing.
I am doing Higher Psych also. And yeah remembering the dates is going to be hard :frown:
Done unit on memory, now onto unit on stress. But still need to properly revise memory. I found it hard and boring really. :s-smilie:

Well, we had this week off and I really, really (bizarrely) want to do a NAB on the subject. I feel I have got a gist of it in the past few days and would love confirmation  But yeah... on our second lecture we got given past papers... madness, it looks insane!
We have a college woman coming in to our school to do higher psychology for 3 hours every Monday, which I thought would be horrible but I actually really enjoy it

Hola folk
I'm doing Psychology at Telford but it's self taught since I actually live and go to school in Glasgow. I'm at the end of the Memory unit which has been okay but trying to teach myself everything and find the motivation to keep going with it is kinda like AHH!
I have no idea how I'm going to remember all the names and dates and things. D:

I've got my first NAB a week on Thursday, on unit 3.
Ahh telford, same as me  open learning also.
I'm waiting on a reply from tutor because i've really got no idea where i'm supposed to go to sit the nab or anything, they don't seem to give you much information except 'work through the packs and keep sending your work in' I have been and i've had a few bits of work not returned and have no idea why so all i can do is keep working..
:/
