Shall we try an start an unofficial ms?

My memory is awful, so the only qs I remember are from the optional (astrophysics)

These were the numerical answers I got, sound familiar to anyone? (I'm hoping and praying people say yes haha)

Radioactivity section:
25.7 MeV
0.034 kg (specific heat capacity one threw me, this is probably wrong)
130.5 moles
28.1 kgm^-3
0.167 kg

astro section:
78 cm
1.21x10^10 m

8.7x10^-19 rad
(I assumed that 1 solar mass was the mass of the sun - am I right?)

6.11x10^-11 rad
(couldn't get the 5:1 ratio unfortunately so I've made mistakes somewhere)

71.9 kms^-1Mpc^-1
13.9 billion years


p.s. no one treat this as a mark scheme by any means!! These were just the answer's I put which are just as likely to be wrong as right..

I went with eyepiece lens, as it had strong magnification + a short focal length ?

Thought there were a few hard ones the mass of ice I ran out of time to get and I definitely got bubbles constant wrong did it in metres! Anyone know which star was further?

I did medical physics

But I'm glad our moles density meV answers match

That mass of ice threw me to defo got that wrong

Having done "Turning Points", I can't comment on the astro q's...
I agree with your answers - I got 0.016kg for the ice q.

I got around 24.7 for the MeV question. Yeh you have include the positrons.

I agree with pretty much every single one of them! Yay!

The 78 cm one I got that at first, then reread the question, rearranged the equation and got 48 point something. It was supposed to be aprox 50cm I think the w said so I hope that's right

You're probably right though :L

24.7, I included the positrons but I really wasnt sure...


Some really tough calculation questions I though, mainly the mass defect, mass of the ice and volume of the gas ones. THere were some rather obscure written ones too, 6 markers not too bad though, tunrining points lacked many calulations...
