I sat that exam in January, and I wouldnt advise making predictions because I did that for the first exam and was not prepared at all for 'Explorers or Boys messing about' revise ALL the texts because I have a feeling they'll repeat a text from a previous paper:smile:

Good luck though!
Thanks!
Can someone tell me a good way to study the 20 anthologies? (I'm the Language A)

The best thing is to spend some time looking at the context - understand what each of the texts is about.
Then, begin to annotate quotes in the text - look at different quotes, analyse them, break them done etc.

There is lots of stuff online to help you with that.

Then, just practise! Complete as practise exam questions as possible. Then, when you have done them all, look at your weaker texts - prioritise them. Maybe even re-do a couple.

Good luck!

I recommend using the mark schemes from the anthologies that have come up previously. They have some really interesting points that you might not have studied

online there are some really good annotations for the texts in the anthology and for every text you have, come up with at least 2 perceptive comments you can make.

I just searched up the name of the text with annotations next to it, and there were quite a lot
GUYS, there is a suggestion from my head of English (who is an AQA examiner) that Beatrice or Rodolpho will come up well as the theme of gender. I hope this helps!!!!!!

Found a couple of sick Youtube channels for English Revision. (Both are Edexcel Certificate but only difference with that is that the allotment of marks in Paper B is slightly different).

This one is clearly for some kind of course, but I'm stealing! Some brilliant videos, esp watch the one on "Point Evidence Explanation" Writing on Non-fiction texts, really helpful for how to organise your writing. Also goes through all the Anthology A. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYP8EYdwLgeZ2CcvK42CybA

This one is from Slough Grammar School, but again I'm stealing since it's on the Internet XD. Love the little summaries on how to organise Paper 1. Really helpful. https://www.youtube.com/user/SGSEnglish/videos

Guys, anyone found anything else that might be useful?

Did actually just have a check on remaining texts since the new igcse came out. Seems like the four A texts are A Passage, Touching the Void, Climate Change, Greenpeace. B texts are The Necklace, An Unknown Girl, Refugee Blues and Veronica.

A Passage to Africa and Touching the Void have already come ! Refugee Blues has also come ! Plus they did repeat Explorers or Boys Messing so they might just repeat something !

My English teacher is betting on either of the climate changes or A Passage to Africa/touching the void however she thinks they may repeat something to keep us on our toes, what do you think?

does anyone know what came up in the january 2015 paper?
Is this discussion for the English Language A paper or English Language B paper? There seems to be a weird mix and I'm doing Language B.
