The Student Room Group

Usually accomadation priority goes to students who had the course as their firm choice. They may have space for students applying through clearing, but they may not. Living outside of London will probably give you priority over more local students. If they don't have space for you in halls, they will give you some support towards finding affordable accomadation nearby. Have you considered privately run halls?

However, halls are rarely much cheaper than private rented accomadation, and you would have to find a way to afford this in second and third year anyway.

If you've got into a university through adjustment/clearing, what is the likelihood of getting student accommodation in halls.

Im talking specifically about SOAS here, I am aware they only have ONE residency apparently?

Do you think if a student is unable to afford private rented accommodation it would prioritise them above other applicants, along with living outside of London?

Most universities will support first year students by either providing accom or supporting you with finding local rented properties

Many students will rent out rather than be in hall so there will be affordable accom
Have you looked at the posibility of renting a room in a shared house? This is what most students do in second and third year, and plenty do it in first year too. SOAS should be able to support you in finding a room with a decent landlord, and often this will be with other first year students. In general, the rent will probably be a bit lower than halls, but you will have to pay some bills on top. I would be really suprised if living in halls is the cheapest option.
