Marsh Graduate Development Programme

I had my 'pre-screen' call this morning.
I would like to offer some advice to other undergraduates that reach this stage.
Don't be fooled by the fact that it is only 10 minutes long.
Be sure to prepare answers to:
How you heard of Marsh
What you are passionate about outside of university and work
How you think any work experience you have undertaken will help you in the role at Marsh
What makes you stand out from other graduates, i.e. what can you offer Marsh?

They are looking for people that can provide direct answers that get to the point and to get this across in a non robotic manner.
They are only looking for 19 graduates and really want to hear that you are specifically interested in Marsh and insurance as a whole.

Thanks for this info. I sent off an application this morning as it was a very quick online form (compared to most others) and they seem a pretty good company to work for.

Anyway, how long after you sent the intial application did they call you?

They called this morning, about 2 weeks after applying. Didn't pass it unfortunately, he said I didn't express enough motivation for insurance as a whole whilst I was good on everything else. I felt I had done pretty well so it surprised me when he said they won't be taking my application any further. He said I fell short on the first question - when asked 'what attracted you to the marsh graduate scheme' i spoke about the high levels of responsibility, excellent training and ability to specialise in specific areas of risk management. But I forgot to speak about why i wanted to join the insurance industry as a whole (annoyingly, I had actually prepared a good answer for this but I got a bit sidetracked with the specifics of the graduate scheme and I forgot to say it). So anyone else expecting the call definitely make sure you have a specific reason as to why you want to go into insurance when they ask that question (they don't give you another opportunity in any other question) or you won't pass. He said they have had 1400 applicants for 19 positions so far so it's pretty competitive

no time for preperation

Received a call at 11, saying can we conduct a pre-screen interview in 10 minutes. No opportunity to re-arrange. Definitely thrown in at the deep end with minimal preparation time.

Any tips on how to best prepare for online tests? Speaking of which, is it only numerical & verbal for the Graduate Development Programme?
What stage have you got to? Yes its numerical and verbal i think.
Have you made much progress with any of the other insurance companies?

@Bossabout: Yes, waiting to hear back from AON's Health & Benefits scheme since they might invite me to an Assessment Center shortly. Are there any particular test providers (e.g. SHL) you found particularly helpful in prepping for Marsh tests?
Yes. I'm in the same position for Aon, been a long wait!
Practice aptitude tests.com is good.

Guys, does anyone know what "logic tests" are for marsh?

@Bossabout: Thanks! Did you hear back from AON yet? I am just about to complete online tests for Marsh. The logical one involves shapes and figures, correct?

Anyone heard from marsh? after the tests?
