AQA C1 Inequalities question

I am stuck on the following question 6d), I have got all the questions right upto 6d, this is the january 2012 paper. Any help would be greatly appreciated

What did you get as your possible values? I'm struggling to see what the problem might be.

x= -12 and 8 so since the inequality is less than 0 and it's an upwards curve, the possible values will be -12<x<8

i listed all the values between -12<x<8 which was my answer for c), the mark scheme said something different

A distance can't be negative.

from pt a) x>5.5
and x needs to be between -12<x<8

So what values can x be?
