Really don't understand English Literature exam (wjec)

Can someone please explain how the English Literature (wjec-higher tier) exam works?
I'm studying Of mice and men, About a boy, Inspector calls and poetry.
After looking at past exams my assumption is, you first do unit 1 higher tier, where there's section A and section B, both lasting 1 hour. In section A, there's an extract and essay question, on Of mice and men (or whatever your studying). In section B, there's a poetry compare question.
Then there's the Unit 2a, higher tier, exam. Again, there's 2 sections, each lasting an hour. In both sections, there's an extract and essay question.
Is this right? So, in total you'd spend 4 hours doing English Literature exams? Would you need to know quotes for all 3 novels/plays your studying? My teacher told us you only need to learn Of mice and men quotes yet I thought you'd need quotes for all?
I'd ask my teacher but the idiot literally explains nothing.:mad:
Thanksss!
