Ahah there are LMHers on here! Do u have any idea what Michael Broers is like? As he's gonna be my 'moral tutor'. Its good to know that you had a similar experience El Chueco as I really wouldn't want to go somewhere really unfriendly.

i don't know who Broers is tbh, but then again, i do maths... and how do you mean moral tutor?

It's what he referred to himself as in an email he sent me, I know it does sound rather unacademic. Ahhh well I guess I'll just have to wait and see come October.
Josho, what was your history interview like? i'm thinking of applying to LMH for history for 2008 entry, any tips?

Hmmmm... I'm sure I've written about it somewhere else. As soon as I can find it I'll post it on here as I don't really have time to describe it now. Watch this space

This is slightly relevant:

Lots and lots of questions here, but hey its 11.00 in the morning and I'm not going out for a while.
My A Level subjects were history, R.S. and Eng Lit. Hmmm... I'm not sure about showing you my PS to be honest, for one its not on this computer and would involve me transferring it across. However, leave me to think about it. MY PS was entirely dominated by Russian history and current affairs in Eastern Europe so of little bearing to LSE. However, I did integrate the notion of international repercussions to historical events and I had a peak at their reading list and discovered I had read one of their key texts (Europe since 1870 by James Joll) which of course went in. I mentioned my further interests and my involvement in both rugby and chess, charity, society's etc. I applied to Oxford for history, UCL for East European History, UCL for politics and East European Studies, LSE for history and LSE for history and IR. And I got offers from all but hist and IR at LSE. I didn't revise for the HAT and don't reallt think theres anything you need to revise as long as you're up-to-scratch on your A Level work. I would advise you to try the AEA in history though as its good practice. My interview was great as the guy I was interviewed by specialised in Modern European history and I steered it towards Russian History. Tell them you want to sudy a language and mention the course (which to be fair is rubbish). Ahaha the mighty gap year - I've been to Egypt with some friends, Canada to see relatives, and I'm heading off to Eastern Europe in a few months however I didn't even bother to mention it in my PS (not enough space). Does this help? Any other q's?

This is just a general answer to a slightly different question. Do you have any slightly more specific questions?
thanks, did you have to do a test at the interview, i mean did they give you a passage to read then ask you questions on it? thats all

No I didn't have one at LMH. I had a rather difficult one at Somerville where I was asked to reconstruct a picture of ancient Mongolian society based on 2 passages of regret written on behalf of two different Khan's after their deaths. Slightly tricky, but the LMH one is based on a traditional interrogation interview. You get some difficult questions but you can at least steer the conversation, although they do like to throw in some vaguely related topics to catch you while you're at this. Hence, I got questioned on the revolutionary writings of Rosa Luxembourg and had to waffle on about her career and made one vague point about her opposing Lenin's policies before mis-labelling her as a German and getting her confused with Alexandra Kollontai.... I digress. In short the system at LMH is easier than some but its still pretty difficult. Hope that helps.

Why does LHM have pretty much the quietest college thread? Come on LMHers talk about anything.
Tsh. I've told you all before. Parties heed no internet forums, and typing whilst drunk makes my head hurt.

But, this aside, if anyone has any questions, I remain,

you should all remember your autograph books next year...

why?
Because I'm there, and you'll want to have an autograph when I become rich and famous. Because then you can probably forge a fake love letter with it and blackmail me against the threat of tabloid exposure.

Actually, if you're thinking of Nicky Blair, he leaves this year. Bit like his dad.
because next year you will (depending on how things go over the next few months) be joined by a minor indie rock figure. its all very silly.

Yoda is not an indie rock figure. He made his fame by just being as great as he is.

However, yoda may charge for his signature.
Looks like you'll all have my ugly mug in your Freshers' guide this year... loooooooooosers....

Guess what? The editor of this year's Freshers' Guide graces TSR with his presence from time to time.

And he's considering taking out Mongoose's face... for health reasons. :p:

I have to stop referring to myself in the third person.

Anyone here coming to LMH for Mod Langs?

Mongoose's face is a fine and great spectacle to behold. It brings life and happiness to all that see it.
Is this Yoda person attempting to trangress on the glory that is Mongoose? Will all the girls and boys fall down in worship of him? Will Mongoose ever stop refering to himself in the third person?

All shall be revealed in fresher's week. Just remember, kids, the trailer is always more exciting than the film. Which is something you'll find out when they give you your first essay. Meanies.
