3000 is like 12 weeks full time at £6/hour and that doesn't even include costs on top of uni like my car insurance and having a social life at home. How do those of you not eligible for a grant nor having "mammy and daddy" bankrole you survive for 3/4 years?

Last summer I earned around £1,500

The summer before I earned around £2,000

During Christmas, by working in a supermarket, I can earn about £600

Easter, maybe a little less due to not needing me as much - £400 or so

Part time jobs at Durham earn me in the region of £200-£400 per term

You say you want to backpack...well stuff that if you need money....but there are SO MANY jobs that you can do which are so much fun during the summer and earn jobs - working abroad, working on summer camps, work placements, etc etc.

If you're organised enough, it's quite possible to earn the money you need!! :smile:
