Gradate Entry Medicine: when to apply?

I'm about to start a 3 year course at university, but would like to apply for the GEM course after my Bsc. I'd would like to know when I should be sorting out and taking entrance exams, and when I should finish my application via UCAS.

Start volunteering/work experience at the end of first year
Do entrance exams and prepare your application during the summer of second year
Apply at the beginning of third year
(Hopefully) start medical school a few weeks after graduation
