taking a gap year to apply for medicine

hi,
so I haven't held onto any offers for medicine for this year 2023 September entry. I just took my a levels, however I am unsure as to when I would have to take the UCAT again as I am aware it is only valid for when you apply for the course. Would I have to take it this year (in June-July 2023) or next year at around the same time for 2024 sept entry?

It's kinda confusing me because I applied for medicine with the UCAT taken in the summer of year 12. But what happens to the people who miss their offers in results day in August. Surely they take the exam in the following year. But what about those people like me who haven't held offers even before results?

Hi,
When you say you haven't "held onto" any offers, do you mean you received pre-interview rejections or you received offers but you don't think you've got the grades to meet the offers?? If it's the latter, then definitely wait until you get your results because you never know! If it's the former, then yes, you'll have to take the UCAT again this cycle (July - Sept) and then submit your application in October for 2024 entry.

You could wait and try and get a place through clearing, but you might be cutting it a bit close if you decide to try and book the UCAT after that
