For the volume question, how was it 544pi? It had to be 576pi as u had to work out the whole cylinder and take it away by the integral surely!

Area of cylinder = pi*r^2*h,

Therefore, in this case, the area = pi*(8)^2*(17/2) = 544pi

Then you integrate (giving you 1024/5 pi), and take this away from 544 = 339.2 PI

it wasn't 576pi either. it was 544pi - (1024/5)pi = 1696/5 pi

I left my answer as 3392/10 pi (double 1696/5 pi) do you think this will be ok? or maybe lose 1 mark?

Wasn't the height of cylinder 17/2 +1/2 = 9 so Volume = 576pi

Got 576pi too but everyone got 544?

The x co-ordinate was 17/2 so you use 17/2 not 9

Did everyone get something like -645/32 for the last term of the binomial expansion????

I think so yeah. the coefficients for the 'x' and 'x^2' both had the same denominator when simplified. Anyone else got the same?

Only thing I seem to have got different to everyone is co-ordinates for the last question.

Stored it in my calculator as (-1, 33/5, 16/5) and (3, 17/5, 4/5) so either I stored it wrong or I made a stupid error lol

I got these coordinates also.

no

17/2 was the x coordinate (i.e. distance from the origin)

the y coordinate was given as 8

8^2 * 17/2 * pi = 544pi
the paper was nice everything was nice except from the part i didnt revise enough.. and the GB will be so high im going to die now.
think i've got 71/75

ohh wtf that was a cylinder

i know right i only realised that at the last 10 min.. i was so confused and i was like what on earth is the volume of rectangle lol
Original post by The_Big_E
Got all the same, except i got 634 minutes, or 10 hours 34 minutes

Got the same answer.

My full solutions:

1) 1/8 - 15/16 x + 75/16 x^2 - 625/32 x^3

2) 0.6595, 1.083, 8/3 ln(2) - 7/9

3) (-2-4xy)/(2x^2 + 4 + pisin(0.5pi)), (3pi+62)/(pi+22)

4) x=e^(ln(60)-2.5t)), 633 mins

5) (-5root(3)/16), (4,5root3)

6) 3ln(3y+2)-2ln(y)+c, lambda=8, 4pi/3 - root3

7) k=17/2, 1696pi/5

8) {3,5,0}, r = {1,5,2} + lambda{-5,4,3}, k=2, cos(theta)=4/5, area=12/5, possible positions {3, 33/5, 16/5} and {-1, 17/5, 4/5}

you've got your -1 and 3 the wrong way round in the coordinates
I realised I got the last part of the last question wrong because I should have made 2root2 = root( x^2 +y^2 +z^2) instead I dotted it

Rectangles become Cylinders, Triangles become Cones.

cylinder my bad im tired

how many marks was the final part of the volume question plssssss someone tell

I think that the question was 2,2,4. So I think 4 marks for the last part.

doubt you'll lose a mark
can anyone solve Q3 and Q4?thank you

The height is 9 tho cos u add 17/2 and 1/2 together

If I do okay in c3 and c4 say its like B but I do better in s2 can I get at least an A ?

Do the maths
Original post by Dieselblue
I got that too, but I think there was a volume between x=0 and x=1/2 which we didn't account for, this I would expect to lose 2 marks, 1 for accuracy one for method

you take that value away from the volume of the cylinder, with radius 8 and height 17/2
