I applied for Film Studies and Literature at Essex University. It seems that the Clearing there as already began and looking at the course listings, it seems that the course I applied for isn't listed.

Is this a good sign or not?

I think Clearing has ONLY started for Scottish Vacancies today (12th). Officially Clearing starts for eveyone else on Thursday 14th August.

If your course isn't listed for Essex it probably means that they have no remaining places on the course available through Clearing. Hopefully you will meet your offer and this won't affect you. As for it being a good or bad sign...I wouldn't read too much into it. They are the only people who know the number of offers they made and if the course is full, it could mean that almost everyone got in or just that they made too many offers in the first place and now they have to honour them by accepting a few more students.
