Does anyone else on the forum like/watch anime? If so any particular series'?
My brother introduced me to it a while ago and I am addicted- it's a shame they don't really show any on tv :frown: -and when they do it's always kiddies' programmes dubbed in american accents  -I like watching it in Japanese (subbed) -and am actually learning little snippets of language along the way ...want to learn to draw em aswell but my attempts have been, erm...interesting

Anyway...anyone?

Egan

I'm not particularly into it, but one of my friends is a big fan. She draws it as well. If you want i'll PM you her website - I don't particularly want to post it up here as who knows what losers might look at it and send her nasty emails and comments and stuff!!!. I think her site is shut at the moment because she is re doing it, but if you're a fan, then she might be able to tell you of some good (open) sites!!! There is definately and index page up at the moment!!

Oh right- cheers for that! -Normally does her site talk about any particular series?
There are so many online -lots of fanart etc  ...I accidently possibly spoiled one of the series I've been watching by coming across some manga-related stuff -oops!

Anyway- surely someone on here must watch some? *looks hopefully*

I enjoy watching anime. I watch DBZ, Yuyu hakusho, Zoids, 009, Kikaider, Big O, Lupin The third, Blue Gender, Fooly Cooly, .Hack/Sign, Inyuyasha, Trigun, and this one about a young shaggy, red haired, wondering, sumori, with a bold x shaped scar on his face, who has promised to use his faithful, two-sided sword only for good. I used to watch Cowboy Bebop. Some of these are reruns right now and others are not showing at the moment.

Nope...seen none of those either- do you buy them, watch them on tv or download?

My brother downloads- but because we are trying to be moral- he only gets unlicensed anime that is not available in the US or Uk etc...
These anime are not downloaded or rented you can catch them on the TV. There was Zoids, DBZ, G Gundam, then they stoped showing Z and GG and started showing Yuyu Hakusho, Runoui Kenshin. These come on durring the day starting at about 3:30pm. They don't show RK durring this time anymore tho they have started to show this anime at night, they have also started showing Z at night to, and I think GG is making a come back, but its going to be coming on at night to. They have also aired this one anime forgot what its called, but its about these four kids who get in the middle of this huge war going on between these two groups super huge car-like androids. They aired it right after GG and then dropped it, now its also making a come back, but its going to be coming on at night. There Xmen, Fooly Cooly, Blue Gender, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Lupin the third, Inyuyasha, Hack/Sign. .H/S comes on only on one of the weekend days either Saturday or Sunday somewhere around 11:00pm. These anime with the exception of .H/S start at 9:30pm. They don't show I anymore either. X isn't really an anime but it is worth mentioning.

Hmmm...cheers I'll have to tune in and see whether I can bear the dubbing...I assume they're not subbed *looks hopefully*

My brother only downloads unlicensed anime- eg anime that is not available in the US/UK etc as so to be a bit more morally correct as it were...tis a tad irritating when you have to stop watching mid-series though *weeps*...alas, I wish they's show more in England- not just kiddies ones...*sigh*...and ofcourse in their original language
In the past I've seen Fruits Basket and Chobits which are unfortunatly now licensed- am currently watching various series- Naruto has to be a favourite (though the main characters face is something to get used to) (sasuke- my avatar, is from that series) -it's got a really fantastic soundtrack *is listening happily now*...am also watching various other series' that are good...unfortunatly my brother's comp is currently out of action so am being deprived- but due to the American power cuts not much has been released anyway...

Been listening to the Naruto soundtrack a lot lately- I love it! There are some really fantastic songs...but I think you'd maybe have to have watch the series for part of the inpact!
Dragonball series! Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Dragonball GT. Slamdunk is pretty good too.

That is a matter of opinion...one which I do not share.

Though I also get extremely *beeb*ed off with hentai as whenever I do a search for any anime/manga related stuff on google I get a load of dodgy sites, which, if accidently opened with plague you with pornographic pop-ups *sigh*.

---

It's funny this thread should have been brought back today as I yestarday purchased my first bought anime, which I had already seen through *cough* other means. Bloomin' expensive but I'd been planning to get it if and when it was released.
It's a good series but when me and my sister viewed it in the American dubs...well..*shudders* -Lets say the contaminating accents and Americanised script were not to our liking, though we were amused. Thankfully I am able to watch it with subs (hurrah!)...it's odd how the change of language can effect the anime though.

Anyway- to the poster who said he'd like to chat- why not do so here?

Anyway, back to the kitchen *slaves*

OMFG! At last! Someone likes anime here! Anime rules. My favourite anime series of all time is Initial D. I have also spent like £50 on it down the arcades! The music is also the best as well! I never realised Super Eurobeat music sounded so good! I'm considering trying Love Hina later since I heard that has been quite successful. I can't wait for Spirited Away to be released on DVD soon because it looks so good! Yummy!

Anyways, when I buy anime, I go for the original Japanese ones because they aren't modified in anyway except some subtitles which you can use to understand what is going on! I would never recommend buying the American crap they re-release because they dub the voices and it sounds really crap. The only dubbed things I like are when they speak Cantonese because I can learn more about my language, which I shamefully can't read or write fluently! I hate the Dragonball Z and GT they show on Cartoon Network because it is basically crap. I have all of the episodes on VCD and it feels so much more authentic.

The UK is quite 'late' when it comes to anime. I was into Dragonball Z like 10 years ago when they started making the trading cards. Unfortunately, I wasn't rich enough to get all of the episodes back then. If anyone wants to talk anime with me, please add me to your MSN!

I have yet to see any of them. Heard a lot about Love Hina and Initial D. What is the basic plot of Initial D? Can you get it in the UK?
And yes, I love anime soundtracks and happily sing along in Japanese!

Agreed. England is somewhat restrictive for getting anime. The only stuff on TV is kid's Americanised dubbed which is a real shame, and there are few places I've found to get anime from. I'd never buy an anime without the subbed option as I can't bear to watch in American after I've got used to the lovely Japanese voices etc. I've also learnt little snippets of the language and culture while watching. Where do you get your anime from?

Haven't watched any but have seen pictures and certainly the style doesn't appeal. No tasty anime men in them!

Yeah- I just paid £20 for 4 episodes! But I daresay it'll be worth it. Once the whole series is released it'll be nice to be able to watch it in good quality, though I'll have to save up!

Hurray for anime

If you love cars and Super Eurobeat music, then this is the anime for you! Initial D shows how street racing should be done! American street racing is so crap. All you do is tune up your car like crazy, stick in some nitrous rockets and then RACE IN A STRAIGHT LINE! WHERE IS THE SKILL IN THAT! I'm sure my 3 year old cousin can do that! Initial D involves racing around this mountainous place called Akina and there are a lot of hairpins and turns to drift around. Japanese street racing is so much better because you have to be really skilled to drift around corners. A lot of people say that games based on Japanese street racing are crap but thats because they don't understand what drift is and they only know how to race in a straight line! If you want any information on the plot and characters, check out this site: http://www.active-x.net/~initialdx/index2.php You will get madly addictied to this! I have all of the 26 episodes from the 1st stage, all 13 episodes from the 2nd stage and the 3rd stage, the movie on VCD.

And yea, the 2 sexy girls in my avatar are those of Mako and Sayuki, who make up the Usui Impact Blue racing team on Initial D.

Finally, you have got to download this song called Heartbeat by Nathalie. It's one of the best tracks on Initial D and I absolutely love it!

Hmmm...car racing ey?

I'm very much keen on sword-fighting/ninja animes.
Naruto, though perhaps having the appearance of a more children's anime- the main characters being quite young, is a most enjoyable ninja series with a massive online fan base. Me and my siblings love it and the albumn is great. There are many others aswell, Scrapped Princess was a great series- now finished and have started watching a few new ones.

I've seen/am watching quite a lot of animes now. The one I have just bought, which I spoke of earlier, is Full Metal Panic. I actually saw the first bit of the spin-off-series (very funny)- Full Metal Panic Fuffumo, before I saw the original. I certainly enjoy it (especially with Sousuke Sagara being incredibly yummy!)

My avatar is of Uchiha Sasuke, a character from Naruto.

Erm...yes well...I stop now.
