Going to the Maudsley Hospital - Schizophrenia

I went to see my psychiatrist last month and he wants me to go for a full examination and appraisal at the Maudsley hospital. I've been diagnosed with Scizophrenia since about 2010 or 2011 and have been on every medication that exists for it and none of it has really helped. My psychiatrist said that he wants me to visit specialists because nothing is making me better and I am still quite young and he wants to see if anything will improve my situation.

I've seen numerous psychiatrists and been in hospital and the crisis house a few times as well and nothing has really helped but I'm really nervous about going to the Maudsley hospital.

He also mentioned going back on Clozapine which I've been on once before because none of the other medications have worked for me and that might mean going back into hospital again which I hate. I mean seriously mental health hospitals are the single worst place to go in the world. It is a living hell.

So I'm really nervous about everything. It got to the stage where I basically just wanted to discharge myself from all services because nothing was working.

Has anyone else had to go for a full work over with specialists because of their mental health problems?
Could you not start clozapine in the community under crisis/home treatment team? The first time I re-started clozapine I was offered this.

That would be ideal. I'll certainly ask him if that is a possibility. I don't have a problem as such being on Clozapine but it does have some rather hard to cope with side effects I just find going into hospital a soul destroying experience.

Thanks for the reply . If he says yes and I can go on it under the home treatment team that would be great.

There may be a waiting list but I'm sure they'll be able to offer you community titration. Best of luck and let me/us know how it goes!
