Why does precision of apparatus increase when amount increases

Because percentage uncertainty = probable error/ your measure (x100)
So if the thing you measure is bigger, the uncertainty is smaller because the number on the bottom of the fraction is bigger.

AKA
The uncertainty of the apparatus is more negligible if the measurement you take is bigger, as the error accounts for a smaller percent of your measurement
