The Student Room Group

critical thinking? politics? economics?

It's not GCSE at the moment, people only have the option to do these 3 subjects at Alevel. but it should definitely be introduced earlier on.

I think critical thinking and politics as a subject should be a compulsory subject for students right from an early age. definitely 4 years before they hit the legal age to vote.

Youth (the future generations) need to have the skills to judge a statement, understand how politics has unravelled in the last 50 years so that they can vote for policies that help them in adulthood.

in similar fashion economics. it cannot be understated the mentality that we have as a nation of buying the latest model when we already have a perfectly good working product.

People do not understand the value of money that well. Life for us in not like it was for previous generation, we need to save more fore retirement or house or whatever else.

As a nation we need to build a social trend/ consensus to be more economic, reduce waste.
understand the value of money.

The spendthrift mentality must be minimised for the individuals sake, for the economy, for the environment. For everyone's sake.

And one of the best place to start is with the next generation.
