How do you become a primary school teacher?

What do you have to do after A Levels to become one?
I have requested this be moved to the correct forum; also tagging @04MR17 who has some more knowledge about education as a career and degree than me.

Basically do a degree.

The usual route is a degree in anything then a 1 year PGCE in uni at Postgraduate or through School Direct.

Alternatively you can do a degree to obtain the QTS qualification, like this - https://www.worcester.ac.uk/courses/primary-initial-teacher-education-ba-hons.html

Obviously the latter is the quicker route if you just want to be a primary teacher.

Decide whether you wish to do an Education degree that will give you Qualified teacher Status or do a normal degree and the a postgrad like PGCE to gain QTS.

You can read more under the qualifications criteria on the prospects link.
