What do you do at French a level? Is it more like GCSE French or English

I'm thinking of taking french A level, but I don't know what actual work goes into it. Is it like English where you analyse texts and stuff, or is it like gcse French where you just learn the language and grammar?
Definitely more like French GCSE, there is a bit of a step up from GCSE of course but you will still be doing the language learning, grammar, vocab, etc for most of the course. Over the course you'll be taught about different aspects of french society, such as culture or politics.

However you will also be taught about a french film and a book as well, which is to an extent like English literature as you have to analyse quite a bit and write essays in French. It's not as bad as it seems though!
