MOVING to USA before GCSE’s

My son is year 9, we may move to USA for 2 years. Concerned about his education should we return. If he misses GCSE’s what options will he have when we return ?
Could he enroll on A levels ?
Any advice would be greatly received

i think it is best to speak to your childs headteacher on this matter
I would think they would want a full report from the american school and possibly repeat year 11. Its an awkward time in schooling if its only for 2 years. Have you considered boarding schools?
For just 2 years it doesn't worth to risk his education. Good unis do not accept students without GCSEs. Then american school system is very different than the uk one. Might be difficult to settle well in A level.
At my daughters school there is a student who went to the USA for a couple of years. I believe he didn’t pass all his American exams, but he is doing A levels now at sixth form.
I’d speak to the school. But I’m sure they would accept alternative qualifications to GCSEs.
