The Student Room Group

What’s wrong wrong with me?

Iv changed a lot during the last year or two from being an extravert to turning into an introvert. I went from chilling with large groups of friends to chilling with one person a lot. Rn I’m in year 12 and people keep telling me I talk to myself randomly. I sometimes don’t even notice and I’m confused. I don’t mind talking to myself sometimes too, prefer it over talking to other people. I love staying in my room and just doing my own stuff. Iv changed a lot and it’s starting to worry me. Any idea?

if you're happy staying in your room and doing your own stuff, then what other people say shouldn't matter
It sounds like you're finding out more about yourself. We all change all the time, in fact to paraphrase someone, "The only constant is change". It's fine to enjoy spending time alone or with just one other person. Society sometimes presents the extrovert position as the 'norm' when it really isn't.

If you love being in your room, doing your own thing, that's great! Enjoy that space and know that there's nothing wrong with you.

It would only be a concern if you were feeling that you wanted to socialise more but didn't feel able to do so.
