What’s a good colour code key to use for the poems? At the moment, all my poems are annotated in pencil and I want to colour code my poems in order to organise and understand them better.

A good technique might be to use separate colours in your annotations for language, structure and context, for example -- as long as you keep them linked together in your essay.

you could colour code them for common themes or which compare well with one another.
