How to become a social worker?

How would someone who is 40 and did nurses training at uni become a social worker? Is there a course or something I can do?

Hi Ansa :hello:

One option for you could be to apply for a Master's degree in Social Work. Many courses don't require you to have a specific undergraduate degree in Social Work (or similar) - but ask for a 2:1 or above.

Master's degrees usually last form one to two years, and many include placements, meaning you can gain more practical experience to go on your CV. In terms of professional development, I would recommend looking for courses which are accredited by by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), meaning upon completion you would be able to register as a professional social worker.

If you like, you can check out our MA Social Work course here, to give you more of an idea of how Master's study works.

I hope this is useful! if you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
