KCL or Durham...

I have a conditional offer from KCL and Durham for Economics and Management. Don't know which to choose as my firm. I am from India and I heard that Durham might have a bit of racism and I don't think I will be able to deal with something like that for 3 years. KCL is great, but London is quite expensive and that might be an issue.

Where did you hear Durham might have 'a bit of racism'?

For me, Durham all the way for an undergraduate degree.

Can you please elaborate on why you prefer Durham?

by racism they mean overwhelmingly white. there will not be any racism in Durham, students are notoriously politically correct. KCL will be very diverse but isn't as good uni tbh, although both are obviously respectable.

Durham is a beautiful, small, city. However, I would recommend it mainly because Durham generally offers a far more enjoyable and structured non-academic student experience. Durham allocates students to colleges, where you will live, make friends, take part in college events and socialise. In case you want to go to a big city, Durham itself is very close by train to Newcastle.

KCL is in a very large and completely impersonal city and does not seem to have the overall student experience that many people look for. KCL has terrible student satisfaction scores.

So for me Durham, but everyone is different and without knowing you it is difficult to know for sure.

i'm from India as well, i would most likely be firming Durham. There would be a decent number of Indians and other races. Racism wouldn't be an issue
