I'm hoping to resit a Lit paper to get it from a D to an A, and my overall mark from a B to an A.

Under what circumstances will re-sitting not get you anywhere?

I was told by my teachers that's the case and that's by mine and my friend's experience... there are exceptions of course, but if your scores generally tend to suck there really is no point, because you're clearly not going to get the motivation to study harder next time round, and there's no point hoping. Having said that, I got a D in Lit in Jan and I just got an A this time round. That was my only resit that was very successful (though I got 12 marks extra in an AS Psych resit... which actually, if I didn't bother to do I wouldn't have gotten enough for the overall A I just got!! So PHEW!!) and somehow I think they marked WAY too generously because I didn't study for even 5 minutes and I knew NOTHING on it, yet they gave me an A? Huh?

Lit though =/. You need to read and study the books over again, right? If you're gonna study A2 and try that resit it'll be difficult to get an A, don't you think? D to A is a huge jump and you need a LOT more material and guidance to help you out. At least that was my experience of English was.

okay, the history coursework... can you resit courseworks? :s-smilie:

otherwise i'd drop that and keep health & social(but resit and work darder!) and french and pick up another AS.
are you hopinh to go to uni? you can get in with two full A levels and an AS or two in the not so fantastic unis.

I got a B, an E and a U, the U i'm fine with as I was expecting it but the E i only got IN ENGLISH LANG because I wrote too much and that's the most they could give me, all my mocks were A's and i'm doing a btec in media which is on a B.
Obviously redoing english as i am good at it, got b in the cw, do you reckon it's gonna look AWFUL on my ucas form saying i got an e and a u in my as results, and i wanna do primary school teaching specialising in english :frown:

even though im doing a retake....
i'm going to mention the result in the personal statement and my referee is gonna be my english teacher saying that i was getting a's in the mocks and it's a freak result?

what do you think, i only want to go brighton :/ 250ISH points... im thinking an awesome reference, an awesome personal statemnet and a good interview and im there????
