Hello,

Please could someone help me identify the IV, DV and design (between, within or mixed subjects) of the following study:

Young Children’s Ability to Produce Valid and Relevant Counter‐Arguments
Bahar Köymen Cathal O’Madagain Andreas Domberg Michael Tomasello, 2020.

I understand that age is one IV - the children are either 3 or 5 years old and that this is a between subjects factor.

But the study also includes an experimental and control trial, whereby target children (in both age groups) are provided with a valid and relevant counterargument (experimental condition) or an invalid and irrelevant counterargument (control condition). i am unsure whether the experimental/control condition would count as another IV?
If so would this be a within subjects factor as all children take in both the experimental and control condition.

Finally, would this mean the study has a 2x2 mixed design?
