UK vs the Netherlands for university

Hi people! Is there anyone who studied both in the UK and the Netherlands?

I come from an EU country and I am currently enrolled in a course at a uni in Britain but I don’t enjoy it much. The uni is top 20 in the UK, however I haven’t really experienced high quality education so far. I have very few contact hours a week, my seminars are very unproductive and overall I am not satisfied.

I am thinking of transferring to a uni in Amsterdam, where the education would be a lot cheaper (for an EU citizen like myself) and I think the place would suit me better. Does anyone know how different Dutch unis are from British ones?

The thing is, my opinion is purely based on this year’s virtual experience and I don’t know whether to blame that or the University itself. I didn’t get to experience societies and social life yet. I know that Britain is well known for great universities and I just don’t know if I am making a right choice with a transfer during pandemic. However, my friends who study in the Netherlands are smitten and enjoy the online courses.

Could anyone help me out? xx
