What is the campus culture like?

hello, can anyone advise what the campus culture is like at LSE? If I lived closer to the campus rather than the centre (Hyde park/regent's park), would there be enough to do or would I be better living further away and having a longer commute to campus?

I'm a poatgrad and don't want to live in halls so will look for a flatshare
