Jury Service

Hi, I have just been summoned for Jury service come July and i just didn't understand the 10 days part, so do we have to go in 10 days from the monday I have been asked to go or is it 10 days counting from the start of the trial?

Another question is that I have heard that it takes a lot of waiting to get picked sometimes, does it mean that the 10 days would be still be fulfilled even if i dont get a case and ended up in the waiting room or would the 10 days count only from when we get the case?
