As a minor, can you see a psychiatrist on the NHS who isn't CAMHS in Wales?
didn't want to make the title too long. i got a rejection letter from camhs (wtf????) so i can't see a psychiatrist at camhs for my symptoms. i know there's the "right to choose" in england, where you can choose who you get referred to and the NHS pays for it, but this isn't a thing in Wales. can you go to anyone else? or is camhs the only option?
Please go to your GP and discuss the failed referral. You're a minor so you aren't expected to figure this out on your own, that's why we go through years and years of training. Do you have a trusted adult you can talk to about how you're feeling as well? They may be able to support you through the next steps, perhaps a teacher or family member? It can be difficult finding the right way to open up and ask for help but for you to get the help you need you have to be forthcoming with those who can help.
