How do you do really well in transactional/imaginative writing?

I’ve been writing for a while, and the best way is to read. Learn how published authors express things and be inspired by them. Practice, and your work will get better (if you can, get someone to read and critique your work). Read your writing out loud to see how things flow. Learn some interesting adjectives instead of words like ‘cool’ and ‘nice’ (unless used in speech.) Observe and think about how you would describe a scene to someone who wasn’t there.

At the beginning of the question, list a few (at least 5) techniques you want to include (similes, metaphors, negation, etc) Create a brief outline, beginning, climax, end. Don’t overthink it (you’ll just be wasting time) and just start writing. DON’T copy or use overused phrases or stereotypes (eg. It was a dark and stormy night), or try to fit in as many long words as possible—it just sounds stupid. And also don’t end it off in the character waking up (the examiners hate it). If you have time at the end, go through and check your SPAG as a lot of marks get wasted on this.
