is the thesaurus disabled or banned when using laptop

when i did the ppes last year for english i used a laptop and the thesaurus was enabled on the word document. you could see synonyms of words by right clicking the word, like what youd do to underline or change the size of the text. in the actual exam, do the invigilators turn off the synonym checker, and can you get disqualified for using it in the test? and do you even use microsoft word when writing your essays on the day? they have never told us the rules when using a laptop so i dont know if ill be fine using it, because the synonym checker would help a lot when writing
