Hi! I'm starting T-level health this year I was wondering if there's anything you think I should know or any advice you could give as I am very nervous but excited to start the course. And if there are any resources that are useful if you could link them to me I would really appreciate it! Thanks :3

Hi!
The course is honestly really good if you want to go into healthcare but the first year can kind of drag at times because it is a lot of theory whereas the second year is more practical but it does build on the first year theory. The main thing I recommend it to take well written and clear notes so that you can revise from them easily and just make flashcards off of them - I found there was no point rewriting my notes because my "pretty" notes would end up longer than my class notes due to the amount of content. Definitely revise using questions. https://www.ncfe.org.uk/qualification-search/qualification-detail/t-level-technical-qualification-in-health-level-3-delivered-by-ncfe-1644 This link will take you to were you can see the past papers but I wouldn't rely on the paper B exams too much as the science specification has been changed for this September to make it more medically focused. There are not many other resources online as the course is so new. Also have a set time each week to revise the previous weeks content to make the workload more manageable. You will have a paper A exam (healthcare theory), paper B exam (science) and an employer set project (coursework but spread over 2 weeks in exam conditions). The ESP may seem daunting at first and I was very nervous going into it but it will get better with time. Finally, throw yourself into placement, ask loads of questions and do your best to be noticed as it will help you if you apply to a job at your placement location in the future. I know this is quite long but I really hope it helps and helps you to feel less nervous about starting. I hope you enjoy it and let me know if you have any other questions

Hi, unfortunately the only ones I have been able to find are the ones posted by NCFE themselves. These detail what you should expect in each exam. I really struggled with this aswell and even considered setting up my own channel because it frustrated me so much 🤣 I think this is the main problem with this course as there are few revision materials and past papers will not be of use as the written papers are different this year. I'll have another scour of the internet to see if I can find anything but unfortunately I think the answer is that there are no videos to revise from.

Hi, one website I find useful is the NCFE website (T Level Technical Qualification in Health (Level 3) (Delivered By NCFE) | NCFE). Under support materials and assessment materials you can find samples of what the exams are like. However, there are quite a few errors in these documents which I have discovered through using them during mocks at my college. This is a recurring theme for NCFE though 🤣 Again, I have not found any videos to support revision so I recommend going over your notes and ensuring you know how to use all of the assessment tools correctly. For this you can search on youtube for videos on how to complete these assessments, sometimes they are called OSCEs. Here is an example: Vital Signs Measurement | OSCE Guide | Observations | NEWS2 Chart | UKMLA | CPSA (youtube.com). Just search how to complete ... Hope this helps

Hi, pretty much the same as the above answer. I recommend searching on youtube how to complete each clinical tool such as body maps and NEWS2. Search "OSCE NEWS2" and you'll find practical videos showing how to complete the observations etc. Other than this, there are really no more resources which is the unfortunate thing about being on a new course. I did write a much more detailed response but it's currently being reviewed so it might pop up soon.

Hi, I do the same t level as you so I did those exams last year, in the middle of the second year exams now. I would say that the written papers are difficult, especially the science one, so it's important that you revise in a way that works for you. I would reccomend using the textbook if you have access to one to revise for paper A, not the science paper as the content has changed since I did it. Make sure that you expand on your points in the 6 and 9 mark questions so that you get as many marks as possible. For the esp make sure that you get a good set of general research in the first task and have an idea of what goals you would like to set with the patient within the research section so that you have facts to back up your goals later on in the project. For example if the patient has diabetes you would want to do a goal involving exercise so you should find some statistics and facts about how exercise benefits people with diabetes. Don't be too specific with the research as it makes it more difficult. Also just try not to be nervous it is difficult when you're being recorded for the role play and presentation but try and pretend that they aren't there and that you are with an actual patient / colleage as it will help with your communication and discussion skills. I'm sorry you don't feel like you know enough for the exams, that must be really stressful but I hope you've been taught everything you need to know and that your exams go well x

Omg thank you soo much also like you know for the employer set project how your given case studies and you use them throughout the whole thing what am I actually meant to write about when they give me the case study? So task 1 a is to research the case study. The patient will have a health condition/concern so you need to research what it is and how to help the patient in recovery/prevention. Task 1b is to write a report about your findings and apply it to the case study. This is the first marked piece. I began by writing about person centred care and how it assists in recovery. You can research person centred care statistics in task 1a. Then you write about different areas in relation to the condition such as diet, exercise or socialising and support groups. Task 2a is to have a role play with the patient where you can ask them any questions and yiu need to set at least three SMART targets with them. You then use your notes from this for the next task so you need to ensure your notes are clear and thorough. Task 2b is to write a care plan for the patient and outline the goals anf write about them in detail using SMART. You need to explain how this will benefit the patient. You also need to talk about other health professionals that need to be involved in their care plan such as dieticians and physiotherapists. 3a is an unmarked peer discussion where you will read your classmates care plans and provide feedback to them as they will do for you. Make sure it is helpful criticism such as "maybe this task is too intense for the patient" instead of "you've spelt this wrong" as you will need to make changes to the goals in the care plan for the next task. 3b is a presentation where you are presenting to a senior colleague and explaining who the patient is, what they need assistance with and what the goals are. You also need to mention the changes you are making to the goals based on your feedback. Make sure to summarise everything at the end of the PowerPoint and say what the ultimate goal is such as "prevent mr Smith from developing type 2 diabetes". Task 4 is a reflection which you will complete about each task. Say how you think you did from your eyes, your patients eyes and your peers eyes. Include what went well and what you would do differently if you got the chance to repeat the task. The ultimate goal of the esp it to create goals for the patient to help their physical, social and emotional wellbeing so bear this in mind when doing the tasks. Hope this answers your question, please let me know if there's anything I missed or that you need help with. I can also talk about the second year exams after you finish these exams if you would like.

Hi do u have any revision for the biology side?
Hi,
I’m currently studying T Level Health but I can’t understand the structure of the professional discussion.
I don’t understand how they will phrase the questions to us like what specifically they’ll say as well as how we are meant to respond.
How do we add in both questions plus part an and b in each theme?
Would you possibly do a mini walk through like a script perhaps of what would be said when
Thank you

I never had a meet the tutor with my college for T-Level Health but if they’ve already offered you a place on the course then it won’t be like an interview, probably more them answering questions and maybe showing you around. If it was going to be an interview I’m pretty sure they’d let you know beforehand as well so you have a chance to prepare!
