Hello everyone!
Course: MA Black British Literature

Previous Course: BFA Creative and Professional Writing, Converse University 2021

Open Days: I'm in the US, so I will attend any virtual days that come up. I've been to one in the past, but I don't see any virtual events posted in the next couple of months. I'd love to connect with other international postgraduate applicants. Applying to a university without seeing it is very nerve-wracking!

Feeling: excited, nervous, grateful to be going back into academia (I'm the kind of nerd who missed the classes at university after leaving it).

Hi guys,
Subject applying for: I'm going to be applying for LLB Laws with Criminal Justice and Human Rights.

Open Days: I intend to attend the Open Day on the 8th November,

Feelings: I feel super excited to go to University, although it'll will definitely be different to how I am now! I feel like I'm gonna have to learn how to be a lot more independent lol, overall I can't wait to get my degree as it'll just make me one step closer to becoming a Human Rights Barrister!!

Good Luck with your application
I have just completed a degree at Goldsmiths and would suggest another University not mired in such debt. Teaching has been severely disrupted over the last two years through lecturer strikes over pensions and University cuts. Huge staff turnovers. Staff stay because of the fabulous pensions and how much time they get to research their personal academic interests. Teaching is secondary and 'payback' for a comfortable life! Several key buildings have been sold off to pay debts. The administration of timetabling is chaotic; you can only talk to a wellness team member or registry operations via a bot or fill in a form online and wait. No new infrastructure or building improvements are occurring. I know it runs some interesting courses, but it's in a horrible location, with grim streets/shops, poor quality accommodation and not a 'safe' area. Located in one of the most economically deprived boroughs in London. Attended by a huge number of mature students who attend as it is 'local-ish', then go home each day. It is a disappointing experience for young students, not a young or vibrant Uni in the slightest. It lives off its 'left wing socialist reputation' and Damian Hurst / Tracy Emin connection
Hey all. I recently accepted an offer from Goldsmiths to study Ecology, Culture and Society postgrad. I'm a bit worried though because of the proposed cuts to staff (and therefore courses) which includes the sociology department, and also many others - it's really sad. I emailed the admissions department a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard back . . . Has anyone accepted a postgrad offer recently and had any confirmation or reassurance that their course is still going ahead? The cuts are proposed for September 2024 :frown:

Totally understand that it's probably chaos at the university, but I need to know soon so I can make arrangements re: finance, leaving my full-time job, sorting out part-time work and finding accommodation....

I'm praying they didn't go to Goldsmiths. Utterly awful. The Uni has had a 'marking and assessment' boycott from April 2024 to the end of September 2024, so no final dissertations or end-of-year exams were marked. They are a disgrace!
