help with work experience

I'm currently in year 12 and I'm trying to look for work experience opportunities (specifically in the finance/accounting/business field) or jobs with decent to good pay that would employ given my limited experience in work but mainly short term work experience. I use springpod but I was wondering if anyone knows any other places or websites to find places that offer work experience. I hope to expand my connections this year and years coming as im pretty introverted so I had/have a hard time being very social. Any advice is much appreciated :biggrin:

Hiya,

I'm currently doing a placement year at University and I used indeed a lot when looking for a placement as you can filter the search to only search for internships as well as using other filters to suit your preferences. Linkedin is also a good way to find work experience opportunities- here's a guide on how to use it: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/linkedin-beginner-all-star-8-easy-steps-clifford-wessel. Alternatively, you could ask your college/ 6th form and see if they know of any opportunities in your area!

For accountancy most firms take on work experience placement students from 6th forms for a week or so. They tend to contact schools so perhaps you could ask the careers advisors or teachers if they have heard anything.

If you count as disadvantaged there are particular schemes to support you in getting experience - if this might apply to you let me know,
