Student Finance for Undergrads!

Hi!:badger:

Coming to university is an exciting thing but it can also be stressful when it comes to finances! There are different routes and options for students to pay their tuition fees in the UK and one of the most popular ones is Student Finance.

What Is Student Finance?:h:

Student finance is a loan from the government given to a student to help cover tuition fees and maintenance. Each UK student is eligible for up to 4 years to cover course costs for undergraduate degrees! Each students gets the same tuition fee loan, and the maintenance loan is based on your household income. The less your household earns, the more loan you will receive. This is to be paid back in small installments based on the income you earn after you graduate. A small percentage is taken from your wage based on what you are earning!

When To Apply?

Any UK student can apply for student finance and the best time to apply is before you start your degree! You can apply for student finance as early as you’d like as you can make amendments to your application. :tux:If you applied for student finance for one university and change your mind before you are due to start, then you can update and change your application! It is best to apply before you begin the course so you can receive your student finance in time for the beginning of your course!

How Does It Work?

Once your course starts you will receive your maintenance loan in three installments throughout the year. You don’t have to worry about the tuition fees as these are sent straight to the university. Most students receive payments in October, January and April. These dates and how much you will receive will be given to you when your application has been approved!

DMU’S Finance Team

Some student’s maintenance loan won’t cover their rent/essentials! The system is designed so those with parents earning higher incomes would help. Don’t worry if this isn’t the case for you! There are many part time jobs about to help cover costs but also help from your university! There are bursaries available if needed and here at DMU we have a finance team to help students who might be struggling. Their email address is [email protected]:u:
