is adult life just being in a state of stress all the time?

From the look of things, pretty much.

Having said that, I intend to have a bunch of money saved up or locked into investments so I don't need to have to stress about finances i.e. I intend to work when I want to and only do the work that I want.

In terms of relationships, it can be stressful, but I think it depends more on the person you're with. Having kids is definitely not easy, but if you really want them then they are worth everything that you have. Family in general is something you should be in close contact with.

I am not sure about other types of stress though.

If you have much of the things planned out and you have a good handle on them (which is proving more and more difficult with each passing year for a million and one reasons), then you should be fine for most parts.

I don't know what you intend to do with your life or what your lifelong ambitions are, so it's difficult to specify.
