Is GCSE Spanish more similar to Spanish (Latin America) or Spanish (Spain)?

I'm currently watching a Spanish dub of my favourite show on Netflix, but there's two types of Spanish for the subtitles. I've seen that there's only some subtle differences, so does it just not matter?

Spain Spanish is what is taught at GCSE so if subtitles/dubs are available in it then its better to stick with spain Spanish but if you can only get LatAm subs/dubs it’s not the end of the world, especially at GCSE level.
If there’s a word you pick up from LatAm subs that you want to use, maybe first use an online dictionary like wordreference to check that it exists in spain Spanish.
