UWE Bristol vs. Northumbria

Which one to pick for Accounting and Finance? How is the social life? And also, general thoughts on Bristol vs Newcastle for students
Northumbria’s ranked 38th whilst UWE is 54th so in all honesty there’s not really much difference between the 2 in terms of academic reputation and employers won’t really have any preferences of one over the other. Social life wise both are really good with one located in Bristol and the other Newcastle which are both great cities for students. The one key difference is Newcastle is wayyy more affordable than Bristol with the latter being similar to London when it comes to cost of living. That may be a factor which is important to you but if you have good financial support then obviously maybe don’t worry about it as much. I’d really recommend visiting both cities/going to the unis to get a proper feel for yourself and see what suits your interests.

Hi Yyytetuuu

I would agree with what AprilJune63 says. The best way to get a feel for a place, particularly a city is to visit and experience it first hand.

If you can join student groups for those cities on social media platforms or follow students based in those cities on social media that could also give you an idea on what the social life is like.

I can't speak for Newcastle's or Northumbria's (you've mentioned both) Accounting and Finance course, however here is a link to the Accounting and Finance webpage for UWE Bristol - https://courses.uwe.ac.uk/N40P/accounting-and-finance.

The course leader is Dr Rui Roberts, their contact details are; Telephone:+4411732 85892, Email:[email protected]. It may be worth getting in touch with them and they may be able to give you more info on the course and possibly some previous or current students details to give you their opinion on the course.

Here are some articles on a student life in Bristol that may be helpful;
