How to determine calcium carbonate in limestone?

Weigh sample
Digest in hydrochloric acid.
Measure carbon dioxide volume released.
Apply PV=nRT to determine n (moles of carbon dioxide)
Work out apparent Mr of limestone.
If you assume that the limestone contains only calcium and magnesium carbonate you can then determine the ratio of the two carbonates mathematically using their relative masses.
However, if the sample of limestone contains any other components then you would have to analyse the final solution for Ca2+ by EDTA titration.
