Visual Effects at AUB

Hey just wondering if anyone could tell me what they think of the VFX course at AUB? I havent seen much about it from students and I’m thinking about going this September. Thank you
It’s a small course but a good one. Have you looked at graduate show films?

yes i have seen some student work and it looks amazing  it’s just a really big decision whether or not to join the course because my main worry is student debt so i wanted to be absolutely sure it’s worth it. Have you been on the course yourself?

Hi there,

We know that university is an investment and student debt can be daunting, so we've got some information on finance (https://aub.ac.uk/fees) and the cost of living (https://aub.ac.uk/support/cost-of-living and https://aub.ac.uk/latest/cost-of-living-support-at-arts-university-bournemouth) on our website.

Bournemouth was also ranked the most affordable UK city for students by NatWest in 2023 (https://www.natwest.com/life-moments/students-and-graduates/student-living-index.html%23:~:text=Bournemouth%2520is%2520the%2520most%2520cost,taking%2520the%2520crown%2520in%252022.).

Let us know if you'd like any more info on any of this, or if you'd like to hear from any current students and we'd be happy to help!

We recently replied in another thread about our VFX course but thought we'd pop our answer over here too 👇

For a student perspective of the course, we'd recommend checking out this article written by one of our recent VFX graduates, Pablo Oliver (https://aub.ac.uk/latest/pablo-oliver-attending-aub-was-an-essential-part-of-my-career-in-vfx). Pablo talks about his time as a student and the films he's worked on since graduating including Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1.

There's a section that really sums up what's important for us at AUB getting our students ready for the creative industry and their future careers, as well as the importance of the technical and artistic elements of their practice:

"It was what I learned about the behind-the-scenes side and the VFX pipeline that have helped me to navigate the industry [...] these would prove to be invaluable following my graduation as while my artistic skills may be up to par, it was my knowledge of the industry and portfolio that sealed the deal for getting the role I desired."

If you'd like a to hear directly from a current student or member of staff, we can put you in touch with our VFX course team, or answer any questions you might have over here. More than anything we'd recommend coming along to an Offer Holder Day (on 12 and 19 April) to really get a feel for our campus and learn more about the course/people you'll be studying with.

Many thanks and hopefully see you soon,
AUB ☀️
