A Level Edexcel English Language - Language Investigation

Hi guys, its a bit late for this but I'm worried that i wont have good evidence and research to do a section b question of the language investigation paper. I chose language and Gender but all my research feels pretty surface level and I don't really have a plan of how to use it to answer the question. My teacher has never taught this section before either so i think hes a bit lost. Does anyone have a solid way of going about language investigation. Please be thorough and detailed this will literally save my life :/

Hi, I am in the same boat and feeling kind of stuck with revision at this point! But I usually do each paragraph by one feature or theory. For example, one paragraph comparing lexical choice between the two texts, one paragraph comparing morphology, one on pragmatics/semantics etc. However I am still unsure of how many paragraphs to write. In my mocks i did about 5/6 including an introduction and conclusion but I'm not sure if this is enough, how many paragraphs do you typically write? Also hope this helps a bit..

yes igy, and thanks x im stuggling with revision as well tbh. My teachers pretty bad ngl so Im a bit clueless but normally i aim for 4 paragraphs for both sections of the paper- timings a big issue for me though. After looking at mark schemes online ill probably structure it like:

Individual variation section : syntax, lexis/ semantics, discourse/ pragmatics, phonology.

Variation over time section: orthography/ graphology, lexis/ semantics, syntax/ morphology, discourse/ pragmatics.

so basically what u said. Ill try to follow that sort of structure whilst including things like theories, informalisation, secularisation, FARFM within both texts. hope this makes sense and helps maybe

Hey for me I do an intro explaining the mode, field function audience etc for both section A and B
then I usually do paragraphs for discourse&pragmatics, lexis and semantics ,syntax and morphology, and orthography and graphology
