Which university to choose

I have got through medicine at University of Central Lancashire, University of Plymouth and University College Dublin -

Even though the world ranking of UCD is much higher but I fear if an Irish degree holds the same weightage as the British degree .

Pls suggest

Hi there @Suveera,

Great to hear that you got through! We hope to welcome you in September.

If you have any questions about your course or live here at UCLan I will be happy to help.

Best wishes,

Hi, I'm a prospective student thinking to apply to UCLAN as an international student. My IB predicted grade is 42/45 and I'm taking the UCAT in august. I'd love to know your genuine opinion on UCLAN regarding both social and intellectual factors. Also, what are the entry requirements - the website isn't very helpful, and is it relatively easy to get into? Also what's your average week studying medicine and do you get early patient contact?

Are you an international student? I'm assuming so. Dublin (and Trinity College) are excellent medical schools. The question is what you're going to do after in terms of postgraduate training and whether you see yourself returning home wherever that might be? You can of course apply to UK for foundation years and post grad training but it would be easier to do so for a UK grad. Post grad training is fine in Ireland but fewer places and I've heard from friends it's about who you know (take that with a huge pinch of salt).

And the fees? Dublin would cost a lot more! But maybe you're lucky enough to be in a position to not worry about it.

In any case if it were me having to choose a UK med school, I'd choose Plymouth simply because UCLan is in Preston and having worked there for a 6 month post I would never go back there if I could avoid it! It's just too far from anywhere  (no offence to anyone studying there)
