Civic criticizes US in Pakistan Drone report

Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict is a US based NGO (Washington) notes that in 2009 there were more civilian casualties in Pakistan than in neighbouring Afghanistan.

Interviewees expected better behaviour in combat operations from Pakistani and US forces than from militants.

Deaths, injuries and property losses are greatly compounded by widespread poverty and displacement.
The death of a husband often means the loss of a key breadwinner. The death of a wife often leaves children and their household without the primary caretaker.

Unfortunately, this report does not come as a surprise to Iran. The heavy-handed nature of the United States' actions in the Afghan-Pakistan border region has been evidenced for some time by the unacceptable civilian casualties resulting from these drone attacks. Iran calls for the United States to cease it's attacks on Pakistani territory.

The PLO believes that this is sadly becoming more and more prevalent. These western "developed" nations such as Israel and the US need to be much more careful. It is absolutely despicable that they rate those lives of middle eastern citizens as below Israeli / American lives.

Iran would completely agree with this excellent statement from the PLO.

Afghanistan shares the grief of the Pakistani people.
We call on the US and NATO to be more selective in their targets, for too long innocent civilians have died as a result of these attacks and the public here grow uneasy.

Afghanistan would also like to bring the issue of night raids to the assembly's attention.
[ooc]am i meant to make a new thread here? <--i'm new [/ooc]
These raids carried out by NATO and ISAF troops on rural houses frankly result in dispraportionately high numbers of civilian casualties and have been proven to be ineffective. Following pressure in the forms of petitions from the public, Afghanistan feels that a review on this policy is needed.

[ooc] Yeah, you can create a new thread in the GA (the main forum) to raise an issue  Since that is pretty much a different topic to this thread that would be fine (anything to raise activity ) [/ooc]
The USA regrets the loss of innocent lives in these attacks, however they remain an effective method when they are accurate.
The first drone attack of the year has proven successful after a drone attack on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border killed at least 15 millitants.

Your source is in an indian website - how credible do you consider this, in terms of an issue for Pakistan?!

This story is not exclusive to the Indian media. It has been reported by the Pakistani media as well:

Here are some other sources:

Therefore Pakistan should not be quite so concerned about the source.
Finland believes that the US are protecting their soldiers and that the strikes that US Drones have made, in the past, are mainly against insurgents.

Sadly, this isn't true. A great number of civilians have been killed in these attacks.

Finland, while understanding the upset around Civilian casualties believes that some sources have over estimated the number of dead killed.

[ooc]The source you quoted, quotes another source which uses a broken link and that source is called alqatar so i assuming it is foreign therefore biased [/ooc]

[occ] Haha, I love the whole "it's foreign so it's biased" line. And so true :yy:

Whilst the origin of the source is not relevant, this information can also be found in the Western press:

Iran wholeheartedly agrees with these comments. In any other similar scenario they would be accompanied with internation outcry.

Canada whilst regretting the loss of innocent lives see's no viable alternative which would both minimise NATO & allied casualties and be effective in the removal of important Taliban figureheads. We echo the sentiments of the US and can only hope for a quick end to this war.
