I need some advise

I HAVE OFFERS FROM BIRMINGHAM UNI AND LOUGHBOROUGH UNI AND I DON’T KNOW WHICH ONE TO FIRM I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE A STUDENT AT BIRMINGHAM AND LOUGHBOROUGH AND WHY WHAT MAKES THE UNI SPECIAL TO YOU

IF ANYONE DOES MECHANICAL ENGINEERING HOW GOOD IS THE COURCE AT EITHER OF THE UNIS

WHATS THE NIGHT LIFE LIKE AT BOTH OF THE UNIVERSITYS

IVE BEEN TO BOTH OF THE OPEN DAYS AND I AM STILL STUCK AND I NEED TO MAKE A DECSION ASAP SO ANY ADVICE WILL BE HELPFUL SO THANKS IN ADAVANCE

I studied maths at Birmingham 7 years ago. I can tell you that the uni is fantastic. The campus is beautiful (as you would have seen) and that definitely creates a nice vibe around the place.

The nightlife is excellent. The majority of student nights are spent on Broad St, which is littered with bars, pubs, clubs, cinemas (2), a casino and bowling ally. Every saturday there is a 'fab n fresh' at the student union - which is a very cool place indeed and is always vibrant. There is something to do every night of the week without fail. And because it's such a large uni - 28000 i believe - there are always people around.

I can't speak for the course itself but from my understanding their engineering department is very good. I seem to remember seeing lots in the media over the years about their groundbreaking research into renewable energy and electric cars.

All in all, you would not regret deciding to study here. And if a good social life is a priority of yours, Birmingham will not let you down. I highly recommend it.

what made you want to do engineering now?

STARTED a degree in Maths :-). Failed miserably because i got a little too excited about being away from home for the first time in my life and completely neglected my studies!

I want to do engineering because i realised that I'm good at solving problems and making things. And i'm definitely up for a challenge. I also like the idea of having the option to live abroad and see the world!

Oh, and i'm more mature in age than manner. I have a horrible feeling that i'm going to be a terrible influence on innocent freshers next year, haha.

yes i too want to do a year abroad perhaps singapore NUS or california tech thats still far away tho. Main priority now is make it to university first. As for freshers im not too bothered about it, im more excited to get to build stuff and get my degree over and done with so i can start travelling places!!

Wait so why are u doing extra maths now? or are u just recapping?

Had to complete the A2 in further maths so that i could get into the uni i wanted. I had the As already but i was advised to finish the A2 also. It's screwed me over though, because i haven't studied maths for so long that i forgot virtually everything. And to go straight into FP2 and FP3 has been a real battle and a mind-****. But i'm slowly getting there. In a couple of weeks i'll be in to full revision mode and will do as many past-papers as possible - something which i didn't think to do for FP2 in Jan and thus i'm retaking it haha. How's your studying going?
