What were you studying?

Fish, I know you're here somewhere. HL Maths has already ruined me.

Even the year 13 Further Maths people couldn't really help me with my homework.

Here's a question from it:

z^2=9i

Express this in the form x+iy or something... good luck.

IM SO CONFUSED/TIRED/WTF

I get:

z=±(9446+344i)z= \pm(\dfrac{9\sqrt[4]{4}}{6}+\dfrac{3}{\sqrt[4]{4}}i)

(not sure if it can be simplified, but I haven't tried to :tongue:)

You're basically trying to find the square root of 9i.There are many ways to do this but this is what I do:

(x + iy)^2 = 9i

Expand the LHS and equate the real and non-real terms. :smile:

z = -3?

:rofl: what else would it be...?:/

So wait, what's that square bracket around 4?

I can't see the latex.

Maths, Further Maths, English Lit, French, History. All great subjects, but also all quite heavy on the workload front.

What did you take? How are you finding the workload?

You're the only person I've met to have my subjects!

(I'm not doing History though)

I've chosen young enterprise:smile: Would it be advisable to chose one that relates directly to the career you would like to pursue? Because I'm not sure whether I've chosen the right thing:redface:

It'd be very good, as you can write about it in your PS.

But not essential :no:

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised either. I'm glad you've made friends though, and settling in well. I've not had the chance yet, Monday have half day with our tutor group though.

That's great about all your classes, how many in your physics class?

Thanks :smile: hopefully be fine!

Are you feeling everything come back to you from before summer?

All the best for your first day on tuesday!

There were 30 people in my physics class, but 5 of them have been put in another class.
First lesson - a massive class in a tiny room, so you can imagine the chaos.

No, i've forgotten everything over the summer!
I havent been revising at all throughout august, so now i just feel so-not-looking-forward to be revising again all of what i did in the past year.
I've lost my revision mood and im still feeling lazy.
But i love my subjects, so will hopefully keep me motivated!

Sounds interesting, I didn't learn about that at GCSE. I got my timetable last night and I don't have sociology until Tuesday :frown: I'm looking forward to it :smile:
