life does not always punish those who deserve it.
The real question is are do they deserve the punishment in he first place?
Wasn't it Di Caprio that read the book initially an loved it that much that he then cased Martin to make the film with him.

Indeed. In this case you could say the end result was unfair, he'd taken the sign and cut it all out but still ended up losing his wife.

I loved it! i mean, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio- how can it not be a great film?!

Fantastic film, definitely Scorsese's best since Casino.
To people saying it is "exaggerated"- from what I have heard it is apparently a very accurate portrayal of Belfort's life from his point of view.
I know Belfort and DiCaprio have stated that it shouldn't be a glamorisation of excess wealth/sex/drug-taking but after watching the film all I could think about was how much I wanted to be like Jordan Belfort.

The movie is just as foul and sex laiden as the warning suggests! If you don't like that, shame on you for not heeding the warnings.
Leonardo DiCaprio is amazing & Jonah continues to surprise with his abilities. Very good but long movie. I strongly recommend it. If you like Scorsese's work, you need to see this.

Because this kind of film sells, this kind of film inspires some young kids to become like Jordan Belfort, this kind of film creates excitement, madness and craziness that we dont experience in everyday life. Its a sad life.
I absolutely loved it. I was enjoying it so much the length didn't really bother me at all!

I fully appreciate everything you said, so why did Scorcese make this film in the way he did?
OK it showed the rise and fall of a man, but it was mainly a film about people taking drugs and having parties. There was very little depth to it and, having watched it, I don't feel I could give someone who hadn't seen it much information on Jordan Belfort, other than, "he was a stockbroker who made loads of money, took drugs, slept with lots of women, then got arrested'.
An entertaining film, no doubt, but undeserving of the rave reviews.

Depth of a film can hardly be measured, but it needs more than just showing a guy making lots of money, having lots of sex and taking lots of drugs.
All we knew of his background was that he was married and moved to New York. There were about 10 seconds at lunch with his boss when he seemed like an innocent and honest chap. Then, poof, a few 'words of wisdom' later he was a money grabbing, sex addicted drug fiend.
I know this is an autobiographical picture and it is obvious that Jordan Belfort is a horrible, horrible man. That would make for a great film had he been remotely interesting, too.

What do you mean what 'other' depth? There is none.
Was there any guilt or remorse? We didn't see a single victim. There was plenty of potential for depth.
