What subjects can I take to get into an international relation course?

I am going to re-take my AS year with different subjects

Sociology
Politics

would these subjects be okay?
I am re-taking because I want good grades to get into a Russel group, and my school did a mistake with my year, a big mistake by giving us supplies and giving us irrelevant teachers to the course.

For International Relations it really doesn't matter, those subjects should be fine though. I should warn you though that A-Level Grades are as much about the work you put as it is about having good teachers.
